Newton Girls Soccer Clinic a success

More than 100 turn out for four-day event

The Boston Breakers ran their first clinic of 2012, a four-day session with Newton Girls Soccer that featured 110 attendees. A number of Breakers players coached at the clinic, including Katie Schoepfer, Elli Reed, Courtney Jones, Amanda DaCosta, Bianca D’Agostino, Taryn Hemmings, Leslie Osborne, Veronica Napoli, Lindsay Massengale, and Katherine Donnelly.

The clinic ran from Tuesday through Friday, three hours each day, and included technical skills and games with a World Cup day to finish off the week. All attendees and people from the Newton community were invited to watch the Breakers practice in Newton after the clinic ended. The Breakers players were available after the clinic for autographs and photos.

"The Boston Breakers run a fantastic clinic," Newton Girls Soccer President Cliff Utstein said.  "They worked hard to make it a lot of fun, and with their great coaching ratio, they were able to focus on training individuals. We had over 100 Newton Girls Soccer players participate, and they enjoyed training with both the Boston Breakers players and coaching staff."

"It was a fantastic four days of soccer. To have our players in Newton sharing their passion and wisdom for the game with the next generation of soccer players makes for an amazing experience," Breakers General Manager Lee Billiard said. "The clinic ended with a lot of smiling faces, new-found soccer skills, and plenty of fun memories. We have received a lot of positive feedback and are working with Newton Girls Soccer on a second program later in the summer."
