THE BREAKDOWN: Breakers sign Brazilian duo, re-sign pair from 2014, and more

(Nov. 14, 2014) - It was a busy week for the Boston Breakers as the club announced two major signings, re-signed two players from last year's NWSL roster, and saw one of its on-loan players make Champions League history in Scotland.

(Nov. 14, 2014) - It was a busy week for the Boston Breakers as the club announced two major signings, re-signed two players from last year's NWSL roster, and saw one of its on-loan players make Champions League history in Scotland.

The week kicked off with the announcement of Brazilian international Francielle coming to Boston. The former Sky Blue FC midfielder and current Sao Jose player signed with the Breakers for the 2015 season. The 25-year-old played for Brazil in the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2012 Summer Olympics. Read all about Francielle's signing here.

FRANCIELLE HIGHLIGHTS

Two days later, the Breakers signed rising Brazilian star striker Andressa Alves. The 22-year-old recently returned from CONMEBOL World Cup qualifers with three goals to her name. Brazil won the tournament and qualified for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics in the process. Read more about Andressa Alves here.

ANDRESSA ALVES HIGHLIGHTS

In Scotland this week, one of the newest Breakers, forward Morgan Marlborough, played 78 minutes for Glasgow City in the second leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League Round of 16 against FC Zurich Frauen. Trailing, 2-1 on aggregate, Glasgow City made a miraculous comeback, scoring two goals in the final 10 minutes to secure a place in the quarterfinals, which was a first for a team from Scotland. Thursday, the Breakers announced the re-signing of midfielder Maddy Evans and defender Julie King. Evans is back for her second season, and for King, this will be her third straight year in Boston.
