Breakers waive Jazmyne Avant

(July 24, 2014) – The Boston Breakers have waived defender Jazmyne Avant, the club announced today. 
"We would like to thank Jazmyne for everything she contributed durning her time as a Boston Breaker,” Breakers general manager Lee Billiard said. " We wish her all the best in her future soccer career." 
In 2014, Avant has appeared in 12 games and registered 778 minutes on the field. She was signed by the Breakers on June 28, 2013 after beginning the NWSL season with Portland Thorns FC. With the Breakers in 2013, she played in 11 games, logging 990 minutes at outside back . Avant registered just one assist with Boston in her debut match, a 3-2 win on June 30, 2013 over Sky Blue FC. Signed by Portland on Feb. 20, 2013, as a Discovery Player, Avant played in four matches  (two starts) and totaled 212 minutes with the Thorns FC. 
In her college career, Avant appeared in 97 matches (79 starts) during a four-year career at the University of Florida from 2008-11. An All-Southeastern Conference second-team selection as a senior, the native Texan helped guide the Gators to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2011. Finishing her time in Gainesville with 12 assists, Avant registered a career-high four assists as a junior in 2010, and was an SEC All-Freshman team selection in 2008.
