(May 5, 2016) – The Boston Breakers announced today the signing of German forward Eunice Beckmann, pending receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Beckmann, 24, recently helped lead Bayern Munich to the Frauen Bundesliga title. In three seasons with Bayern, Beckmann scored 10 goals in 28 games, logging 1,483 minutes.

“I’m delighted that Eunice has decided to join the Boston Breakers. She is a player that I have been aware of for many years now. She has done well at Bayern and is another player that has won trophies, so she will bring that mentality to Boston,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said. “Eunice is a natural center forward, but she can play anywhere in a front three and also drop into the 10. She is a good finisher, but she also has a good soccer brain. She will be a good addition to the squad and give me more attacking options.”

The Wuppertal, Germany native began her professional career at the age of 17, playing for Duisburg in the Frauen Bundesliga. During the 2009 season with Duisburg, Beckmann scored two goals in eight games. The 5-foot, 6-inch forward then moved on to Bayer Leverkusen, where she tallied 10 goals in 51 games.

“I'm very excited to play in the states. I want to take the next step in my football career and my personal life,” Beckmann said. “I would like to help the team achieve the goals of the season. I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter in my footballing career and face the challenges that the Boston Breakers have in store for me. Also, I want to thank you, FC Bayern Munich, for an exciting and successful time in the Bundesliga.”

On the international level, Beckmann played for Germany’s U-19 Women’s National Team at the 2010 and 2011 UEFA U-19 Women’s Championship. Beckmann and Germany won the championship in 2011 in Italy with Beckmann scoring four goals in the tournament. She netted the game-winner in a 3-1 semifinal-round win over Switzerland.
