(April 10, 2017) – The Boston Breakers announced today the signing of forward Ifeoma Onumonu. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The No. 8 overall pick in the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League College Draft in January, Onumonu scored 33 goals and tallied 17 assists in 82 games at the University of California.
The 23-year-old Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. native was named to the 2016 NSCAA All-Pacific Region and All-Pac-12 first teams. She recently trained with the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team.
“Ife is a quick and powerful forward,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said. “She can play anywhere in a front three and will give us great competition for places. We didn’t have someone like Ife last year, and she certainly has the potential to do really well in the NWSL.”
