(Oct. 26, 2017) - The Boston Breakers announced today that they have re-signed forward Katie Stengel for the 2018 season. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Katie was a good addition to the team midway through last season. She's a excellent finisher, and I'm delighted she's at Boston," Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said.
Stengel joined the Breakers on June 30, 2017, claimed off waivers from the Washington Spirit. She made her Breakers debut on July 7, 2017, coming on in the 81st minute for Natasha Dowie in a scoreless draw at home against the Chicago Red Stars.
The 25-year-old Melbourne, Fla. native played in 12 games in the NWSL in 2017 (556 minutes). She registered one assist. It came on Aug. 4, a 2-2 tie at home against FC Kansas City. Stengel assisted on one of two goals by Rosie White in the draw.
“I couldn’t be happier to be returning to Boston. I was honored to be a part of this team last year and am grateful for the opportunity to continue to build at this club,” Stengel said. “I’m looking forward to winning a championship with this group next year.”
