(Oct. 18, 2016) – The Boston Breakers announced today that the club has loaned forward Natasha Dowie to Melbourne Victory and forward Kyah Simon to Sydney FC of Australia’s W-League.
Additionally, options have been exercised for their 2017 NWSL returns.
This will be Simon’s sixth stint with Sydney, having played for the club during the 2015/2016, 2012/2013, 2011/2012, 2010/2011, and 2009/2010 seasons.
During the 2016 NWSL season, Simon started 14 of the 17 matches she appeared in for Boston, scoring one goal and tallying one assist in 1,293 minutes of action. Simon, 25, also played in the 2016 Summer Olympics for Australia, scoring one goal during the group stage. It came in a 6-1 win over Zimbabwe.
Dowie will return to Australia’s W-League for the second straight year, suiting up again for Melbourne Victory. Last season, Dowie started all seven games she appeared in, scoring three goals for Melbourne.
The 28-year-old made her Boston Breakers debut on July 31, 2016, scoring 10 minutes into her first match. Her goal against the Orlando Pride proved to be the game-winner in front of a record-breaking crowd of 4,379 at Jordan Field in Allston, Mass.
Dowie started all seven matches she appeared in for the Breakers in 2016, finishing the year as the team’s top scorer with three goals.
