Breakers head to Houston Sunday for final road game of 2016

(Sept. 10, 2016) – The Boston Breakers are looking to take all three points in their final road trip of the season, landing in Texas Sunday night to face the Houston Dash at BBVA Compass Stadium (7 p.m. ET kickoff).

Boston is looking to extend its unbeaten streak to two after a 2-2 draw Wednesday night at home against the Western New York Flash. The Breakers got a goal apiece from Kyah Simon and Natasha Dowie Wednesday night. Simon gave the Breakers the lead in the fourth minute with her first goal of the season. After an equalizer from Western New York’s Jess McDonald late in the first half, Dowie scored her third goal in five games to put Boston ahead, 2-1. Western New York scored in the 76th minute on a goal by Lynn Williams to account for the 2-2 final.

Sunday night, Boston will take on the Houston Dash for the second time in less than two weeks. Houston will returns home after a 3-0 loss to the Portland Thorns this past Wednesday. The Dash were shut out as Portland’s Tobin Heath assisted Allie Long for two goals. The third goal was scored by Christine Sinclair. Houston (5-9-4) sit just above the Breakers in the NWSL table with 19 points.

The Breakers are looking to even this season’s series after losing late in August to the Dash, 3-1, at Jordan Field. Houston’s leading scorer and offensive threat Kealia Ohai scored two of her team’s three goals in the first half. Carli Lloyd scored the third goal in the second half with a long-range shot. While the Breakers had a handful of offensive opportunities, they were unable to convert on them until Dowie scored in the 91st minute.

The Breakers will return home Saturday, Sept. 24, for their final game of the season. They face the Western New York Flash. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased by calling 617-945-1704 or by visiting
