(Jan. 7, 2015) - Boston Breakers defender Bianca Sierra is one of 21 players called up to the Mexican Women’s National Team by head coach Leonardo Cuellar for the upcoming Four Nations Cup in Shenzhen, China.

Mexico opens the tournament on Sunday, Jan. 11 against China before facing Canada (Jan. 13) and Korea Republic (Jan. 15).

Sierra and Mexico are coming off a great finish to 2014. Mexico won gold at November’s Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz.

The Livermore, Calif. native was also in Mexico’s squad for the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship in October. There, she helped Mexico qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada with a win over Trinidad and Tobago, 4-2, in the third-place match.

The former Auburn University star made 11 appearances, including nine starts, for the Breakers in 2014. She tallied one assist in 798 minutes.

Sierra was acquired on June 18, 2014, in a trade with the Washington Spirit. She appeared in nine games for Washington prior to joining the Breakers.
