(March 2, 2017) - The Boston Breakers announced today they will play four preseason games ahead of the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League season.
The Breakers open preseason on March 13, and their first preseason game is scheduled for Saturday, March 25 at 4 p.m. ET against Boston College. The Breakers and Eagles will play on BC’s Newton campus in a closed-door scrimmage.
On Tuesday, March 28, the Breakers take on the New England Futbol Club’s U-15 boys’ team at Forekicks in Taunton, Mass. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Saturday, April 1, the Breakers face the University of Connecticut at Jordan Field in Allston, Mass. They wrap up the 2017 preseason schedule on Tuesday, April 4, against Sky Blue FC on the campus of the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. This will be a closed-door scrimmage. The game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. ET.
“We are excited to get preseason going. It’s been a long, but rewarding offseason for us,” Boston Breakers president of soccer operations and development Lee Billiard said. The coaches’ priority was to make sure we have a good number of competitive games to finalize the team’s preparation heading into the NWSL season. This is the first year in a while where we have scrimmaged a league opponent. It will be exciting to test where we are at and get the squad on the field.”
