Last summer, Evans played for the Boston Breakers reserve team, Aztec MA, in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). Evans, who has trained with the Breakers the past two years, helped lead Aztec MA to the 2012 WPSL Northeast Division title. She had great success in college, guiding the Nittany Lions to the 2012 College Cup final. Team captain in 2012 and an All-Big Ten Second Team selection the same season, Evans finished her Penn State career with 11 goals and nine assists for 30 points.
As a senior at the University of Colorado, Russell led the team in goals scored (4) and points (10). She ranks in the top 3 in school history in career assists (16). She scored 10 goals in her four-year career with Colorado. As a freshman in 2008, Russell ranked seventh in the Big 12 with seven assists. As a junior, she was named to the All-Big 12 Second Team.
LaPonte had a stellar career at Santa Clara University. She received All-WCC Honorable Mention honors in as a sophomore in 2009, leading a back line that held opponents to 0.90 goals per game. LaPonte also was a member of U.S. Youth National Teams (U-14 to U-20). In 2010, she was called into camp with the U20s to train with the team ahead of the 2010 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
