(Feb. 21, 2014) - Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 marks the inaugural Boston Breakers Academy "College Play Date," held at Forekicks in Taunton, Mass.

The Breakers Academy College Play Date will see every Breakers Academy U15, U16, and U17 team from both East and West locations compete in a round-robin tournament format in front of some of the region's top college programs and coaches.

"It's very exciting that we are able to give our Boston Breakers Academy players this type of experience. It is not only ECNL players, but for our NPL, and East/West players as well," Breakers Academy Girls Director Sydney Stoll said. "It's a great opportunity for all of them to get more exposure by colleges from all divisions and a chance for us to communicate exactly how the recruiting process works."

The event is specific for Boston Breakers Academy players only and attended by such colleges as:

University of Massachusetts Lowell
Boston College
Boston University
University of Rhode Island
University of New Hampshire
University of Connecticut
St. Anselm College
Providence College
Eastern Nazarene College
American International College
Holy Cross
Fairfield University
Worcester State University
Assumption College
Merrimack College
Northeastern University and more

"This is a unique event," Boston Breakers General Manger Lee Billiard said. "Not only do our Academy players get additional touches of the ball in a competitive environment, they are able to showcase their abilities in front of colleges in a more private situation. The fact that college coaches don't need to bounce around 12 fields looking at 100 kids from a variety of clubs really helps us showcase our Breakers Academy players in more of a spotlight."

The event will close out with a college recruitment process lecture and Q&A with a college coach panel.
