(Oct. 24, 2016) – The Boston Breakers announced today the re-signing of midfielder Stephanie Verdoia. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 23-year-old Salt Lake City native played a career-high 10 games in 2016, starting five. She logged 453 minutes, also a career best. She tallied six shots, three of which landed on goal.
In two seasons with the Breakers, Verdoia has started six of the 18 games she’s appeared in, registering 639 minutes.
“I'm delighted Steph has re-signed for the club,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said. “As last season went on, she grew in confidence. I'm looking forward to seeing a confident Steph Verdoia from the word ‘go’ in 2017.”
The former Seattle University star, and program’s leading goal-scorer, was selected by the Boston Breakers in the fourth round of the 2015 NWSL College Draft. She made her professional debut and first start on April 26, 2015, a 3-2 win at home against the Houston Dash.
Verdoia has seen time with the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team, playing at the 2015 Six Nations Tournament in La Manga, Spain. She saw action in two matches, tallying one assist. It came in a 2-0 win over Norway on Feb. 28, 2015.
