(Nov. 1, 2017) - The Boston Breakers announced today that they have re-signed midfielder Angela Salem for the 2018 season. Per team and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Angela has been a really important player for us over the past two seasons, not only on the pitch but also in the dressing room,” Boston Breakers head coach Matt Beard said. “It was key that we kept Angela in Boston.”
The 29-year-old Akron, Ohio native played in 24 games (all starts) with the Breakers in 2017. She logged 2,117 minutes, most on the team. Salem also ranked first on the club in passes attempted with 1,099. She made her 100th NWSL appearance on Sept. 10, 2017, a 1-0 loss at home against Portland Thorns FC. This year marked Salem’s second with the Breakers. She started all 19 games she appeared in during the 2016 season.
“I’m really excited to be re-signing and look forward to building from last year,” Salem said. “We have a great core coming back, and I’m happy to be one of them. I'm ready to see what next season has in store.”
